QUESTION :
- What are the differences between powerbanks available in the market ?

ANSWER :
- User may be confused with various brands and type of portable Powerbank which are available in the market today if he or she is not familiar with battery know-how. Do you know that PowerBanks is different from one to another even though the battery capacity is exactly the same; in terms of size, pricing, compatibility, cell quality, cell grade, as well as the internal safety design PCB circuits.

QUESTION :
- What are the various battery/cell types in powerbanks?

ANSWER:
- The battery type use in PowerBank might be in different too from one to another. Due to the high manufacture cost for high-end Lithium-Polymer battery cell comparing it to Lithium-Ion, therefore, the price of PowerBank equipped with Lithium-Polymer battery is always rather higher than the PowerBank equipped with Lithium-Ion battery.

QUESTION :
- What are the common charging habits and why are safety measures technology is an important factor to take attention in a powerbank?

ANSWER :
- Since most users will regulate to re-charge their PowerBank during the NIGHT while sleeping, thus safety is a concern as low grade power cells can be explosive based if over-charged. The current market today as we know it is full of low grade PowerBank with uncertain quality and uncertified safety measures, so it is advisable that user give a thinker to opt for PowerBank using 1st tier high grade Lithium-Polymer battery due to its stable elements and safety assurance as long as it is affordable. After all, the last thing we want is a PowerBank to explode during usage and charging as we are sleeping. YES, don’t be surprised about PowerBank exploding as it has been reported in overseas as a major concern.

QUESTION :
- Do we opt for 1st tier high grade lithium ion cell based powerbank as a secondary option due to its cheaper purchasing price?

ANSWER :
- As known, Lithium-Ion safety aspect is not as good as Lithium-Polymer, and it did happen or report exploded with POOR QUALITY or LOW GRADE LITHIUM-ION battery use. Unless user do know and is certain about the excellent quality of the Lithium-Ion battery (1st tier high grade Lithium Ion) which is equipped in the PowerBank, otherwise, please do not take a risk and be tempted with those high capacity PowerBanks for a low price which are available vastly in the market, due to the safety reason.

QUESTION :
- How to choose a powerbank before purchase ?

ANSWER :
- Unless the user know very well for the equipped battery cell inside the PowerBank is in excellent quality and with safety protected design, otherwise, in general, it is advisable to consider PowerBank equipped with high-end Lithium-Polymer, with an affordable price.

QUESTION :
- What are the difference between a lithium-polymer based powerbank cell vs a lithium-ion cell in general ?

ANSWER :
(a) Lithium-Polymer
* Pros: Latest technology, Less warmer, Non-flammable, Non-explosive, Stable and Safe.
* Cons: Slightly bigger in size

(b) Lithium-Ion
* Pros: Easy to get "hot" or simply warmer than expected, Flammable and Explosive
* Cons: smaller in size
** Mobile phones uses Lithium-Ion battery

QUESTION :
- What are the details to take note before purchasing a power bank ?

ANSWER :
(a) Quality:
Who is the manufacturer of the Power bank? Is the power bank manufactured by a professional maker or by just assembly with uncertain quality of the parts?

(b) Safety:
What type of safety technology is incorporated with the power bank which you are about to purchase?

(c) Reliability:
It’s the casing made from world-class standard shell which is able to offer you protection from any leakage or harm from the Power bank?

(d) Product design
Does it feel, look and most importantly SMART in design (MICRO USB -> USB and able to vice-versa) ?

(e) After sales service:
What is the warranty period and type of warranty that is being able to be offered to you after purchasing the Power bank?

QUESTION :
- Why does a powerbank take a longer period to charge in a computer USB port compare to a USB wall charger adaptor eventhough both supply 5V?

ANSWER :
This is due to the USB Port ( USB 2.0 ) in a computer/laptop only supplies 0.5Ampere and a USB wall charger adaptor supplies 1 Ampere to 2.1Ampere  power supply. A Powerbank in general will require 5V/1A for optimum charging period.

QUESTION :
- What is mAh?

ANSWER :
mAh is short for milliAmpere/hours. It's a measurement of the amount of energy the battery can store. The one with 8400mAh can store double the amount of energy that the one with 4200mAh can store.

QUESTION :
- If a smartphone cell is 1600mAh, does this means a 4800 mAh powerbank can charge it 3 times full charge?

ANSWER :
It depends actually, it does not translate directly into triple the usage time for the device with a ratio of 1:3. There is a calculation formula for the approx device charge per cycle for a single powerbank charge.  4800mAh is only an indication on how long the device can power itself from the battery. All these factors will depend on the powerbank cell quality, cell actual capacity, cell PCB board design and cell reliability.

QUESTION :
- Am I able to charge my Powerbank using my SAMSUNG and APPLE single USB port wall charger adapter?

ANSWER  :
This depends on the built quality of the PCB board in the powerbank. Every powerbank manufacturer differ from one to another thus we do not have a certain answer for this. As for dvalo iPowerstation 5200mAh and 8400mAh, we have tested charging both units using the given cable in the package and it is verified that the iPowerstations can be charged successfully using both of the wall charger as mentioned .

Charging My Gadgets On The Go: Mega PowerBank

Happy Monday, everyone!  I've been wanting to do tech reviews once in a while, as I am a bit of a tech nerd and I love talking about gadgets and gizmos galore, you want thingamabobs?  I've got 20 I've been loving lately!
I'm one of those people who is on their phone a lot.  Between calling, texting, tweeting, filtering-three-times-before-instagramming, etc., my phone battery needs a full recharge every single day.  However, I'm a little prone to forgetting to charge it, which is where one of my favorite gadgets comes in: the Mega PowerBank 8400 mAh portable charger.
This little box of power can charge two gadgets at a time via its two USB ports.  Phones, tablets, cameras, etc. will all work if one end of their cord fits a USB.  I find this is especially great for any sort of travel because I can charge things on the airplane or in my purse if I'm not near a power outlet.

The device has a round button on top to power on and off, and numbers around it that light up violet-blue according to how much power is left.  The camera didn't want to pick it up, but below you can barely see that the 25, 50, and 75 are all lit up, meaning 75% power left.

A really nifty feature, though I haven't actually ever had to use it, is a flashlight.  Double clicking the power button turns on a bright light in between the two USB ports.

The PowerBank comes with two cables that contain a USB plug at one end, and a small, round plug at the other.  It then has 4 different adaptors that can attach to the small, round plug: two 30-pin plug in tips (compatible with iPhones and iPads with 30-pin ports), one micro USB plug in tip, and one mini USB plug in tip).  But as I said earlier, if any of your devices can charge through a USB plug, you can plug them into this with your own cord.

Last, but not least, this comes with a drawstring bag to keep everything together in.

Overall, I highly recommend this if you like having solid battery security on your devices!  Portable chargers in general are great, I didn't start using them until this last year and they really do the trick in a pinch.

As far as I know, this is exclusively available through QVC right now, and is retailing on their website for $65.96.  I received this goodie in a gift bag from an event I attended a while back, so I haven't seen this in stores anywhere.  If you are looking to purchase something in store, there are a ton of other companies selling devices like this one that work similarly.

Do you use any sort of portable power for your gadgets?Yellow
